CROSS ISLAND: Opening Concert - Music for a Sunday Afternoon 20th Anniversary Season

 —  —

The Barn at Orchard Hill, Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Road, Old Westbury, NY

In an Old Westbury Gardens tradition, CROSS ISLAND - cellist Suzanne Mueller, pianist Elinor Abrams, and clarinetist Joseph Rutkowski - plays the opening concert of the Music for a Sunday Afternoon concert series (celebrating its 20th season).

All concerts this season are dedicated to the memory of Eleanor Mueller, my mother, a talented pianist and cellist, and dedicated patron of the series.

As always, the program of duets and trios spans centuries and styles and seamlessly blends beloved favorites and intriguing discoveries:

Franz Schubert - Shepherd on the Rock

Johannes Brahms - Clarinet Sonata No. 1, Mvt. 2

Ruth Schonthal - Tango for Two

Clara Schumann - Piano Trio in G Minor, Mvt. 3

David Wolfson - Dichotomy (premiere!)

Cole Porter - So in Love

Paul Schoenfield - Cafe Music, Mvt. 2

Antonio Carlos Jobim - Amor em Paz Antonio Carlos Jobim - Wave

Eugene Friesen/Paul Halley - Remembering You

Leonard Bernstein - Make our Garden Grow

The concert will be on the lawn at the Orchard Hill Barn (bring a lawn chair or blanket and a hat for the sun) with additional seating available inside the Barn. Come early and enjoy the beautiful grounds!
